When all you have is time, thinking becomes the only activity, but it is really boring only getting to talk to yourself.
CW: Strong Language, Death
“At least I didn’t feel it. Didn’t have a chance to I suppose… Fuck. I cannot believe he had a functional death-ray, like I get it, supervillain shit but that seemed a little fucking excessive! Still… Glad everyone else is okay, or at least… I hope they are.”
Sadness rose at the choice she had to make.
“Volta is pissed at me I’m sure, pulling that headass hero shit. Gods… I’m so sorry Puppy. I couldn’t risk letting you be hurt. You’re too important."
Sadness though, gave way to resolve. Atomization was only a minor setback.
"Nothing left to do but get back to them... But how do I fix this?”
Villains never give up.
“I can figure this out… I suppose my magic shuffled me to the elemental plane rather than off the mortal coil completely? This feels so bizarre. How does one recover from molecular deconstruction…?”
Her absent thoughts are interrupted by another voice.
“Agent Greysmoke? Can you hear me?”
“I can…”
"You know who this is?"
"I do."
“Very good. We were worried we would not be able to retrieve your essence, but still you shine brightly. Can I ask you something?”
“I mean, I’m listening. Don’t have much else to do given my whole... Lack of corporeality.”
“That is true, you are a captive audience. What would you say if I told you I could give you a new body? ”
“Like a clone, or what exactly? Have another Audrey on ice?”
"No, not a clone. Something decidedly less organic. It would not be anyone else's body, it would be yours, just not flesh and bone.”
“… Oh… You mean... Mm... Can I think about it?”
“Of course. I do want to mention she misses you. They all do, you know? Losing you was hard on a lot of people.”
“… Did everyone else make it at least?”
“They did… But without you? They left a part of themselves there too.”
“... and Relly?”
"Inconsolable. We have tried out best, but our dear sister's heart is shattered."
There was a very long pause then, before a response finally came.
"... Can I be done thinking about it now?"
