[Starfield] because Bethesda games are extremely brain-off and mods are finally here.
Also because I don't wanna burn out on [FFXIV] with [Dawntrail] just two weeks away.

The Sexy Brutale

You're lying on the floor in the chapel of a monstrously wealthy gambler's casino-mansion.

You're dead.

A mysterious woman with no skin, all muscle and sinew, bloody hair pooling behind her, touches your mask leaving her bloody handprint across it.

You wake up. She explains that this gift is all she can do for you and hands you a broken gold pocket watch. It can rewind time by a few hours back to 12:00 noon on Saturday over and over and over. She says if you can somehow get the aid of its creator, you may be able to do more. You hear a gunshot in the distance.

You're Lafcaido Boone, the preacher, and you wake up next to a grandfather clock in the lounge in the chapel of a monstrously wealthy gambler's casino-mansion...

The Sexy Brutale is a multiple murder mystery set in an impossibly ostentatious casino-mansion, the eponymous Sexy Brutale. You live out the final 12 hours of a masquerade party where each one of the guests meets a gruesome fate, over and over. In order to unlock more of the casino's secrets and push forward, you'll need to save them and discover the plot behind it all...

I honestly had a lot of fun with this one. The sound design is great, the mansion is a lot of fun to explore and the guests and goons have neat little stories to uncover as you spy on them to try to work out what to do next.

I thought the puzzles were very much on the easy side - the solution is pretty clearly telegraphed by the time you've watched the first loop of each guest's scenario. That's not necessarily bad, it makes it a pretty chill game to play - it's just maybe not going to satisfy if you're looking for a galaxy brain game.

My one real complaint is that I thought the scenarios themselves each felt like they were teaching you about a new mechanic or event, but the finale falls flat in terms of drawing it together, and left me wanting a more satisfying conclusion. But it was still overall enjoyable and I'm glad I finally got around to playing this from my backlog list.

I'm excited to check out the DLC (I know nothing about it and that's how I like it) so I figured I'd make a new character and re-familiarize myself with the game using a build I rarely get to try: knives and parries! And it's a ton of fun!

(...once I got past the frustrating speed bumps of re-learning a bunch of stuff previous Souls games had taught me but which have been deprecated or otherwise changed in a way that obsoletes my muscle memory)

Looking forward to seeing how far blood, knives and magic will get me in the new chapter of this game I really like!

The finale of the Light & Darkness saga was an emotional ending to a story I've been playing for the last decade.

in reply to @jesncin's post:

I’m playing Dark Souls II! I started it like 6 months ago and then took a huge break, but I’m back to it now. I have some friends either watching or playing in parallel and that’s very nice.

got 100% in yellow taxi goes vroom! real good collectathon platformer, infectiously hyperstimulated.

currently catching up on raocow. just finished his let's play of a2xt2, what a fantastic community project

Tracks of Thought. I'm hanging out on a train with my slightly impulsive bug pal who was assigned to me after a little personality test, and I'm trying to figure out why all the other bugs are suffering from a little amnesia.

I just played the entirety of Duck Detective yesterday, and I’m currently replaying both Device 6 and Counterfeit Monkey, two favorites of mine that play with the written word in very different ways. I also check in on Fallen London and Infinity Island a couple times a day to make incremental progress on their respective grinds, and make occasional Balatro attempts to continue working my way towards 100% completion.

currently playing both Disco Elysium and Mischief Makers! it's my first time playing either game and they've both been a good time so far 👍

also recently watched a playthru of the new Alan Wake 2 DLC and i'd lay down my life for Rose

been playin' baba is you! i used to bounce off it hard but i realized its cause i wsa trying to play it too fast. like i cannot sit down and do an hour session with this game my brain will die, i just do like a level, maybe half a level, and call it good.

also been playing Ballex which is a spiritual successor to Ballance which is a game where you are a ball and you solve puzzles

Working my way through Dragon Quest XI. I love every single monster design and every single goofball punny monster name. I love them so much. Sometimes when I'm playing I'll be hit with the urge to drop what I'm doing and draw fanart of the monsters.

Terra Invicta. An alien invasion grandstrat. I'm playing the Academy - the group that wants to establish peaceful and equal relations between humans and the aliens. Which does include become enough of a threat that they stop thinking of us as animals. But in my playthrough the anti-alien factions are really failing at their alien fighting duties.
I hope to be able to maintain excitement to actually get to the endgame and not fall off the game (quite likely outcome).

Against the Storm, lost my first game on the Viceroy Gold Seal the other day. 28 wins in a row before that gradually working my way up to and through Viceroy difficulty.

I got blasted by the "Y number of people die at this hostility level" threat, meanwhile only got through two of the seal orders in time. Actually three - the third one was instantly completable after I finally finished the second, but then the Impatience Spike Via Massive Death hit.
