AFAIK, it's just that earwax is unexpectedly diverse, everything from quantity, to frequency, consistency, the processes of your specific interactions with your ears, consciously/otherwise, which might clean or worsen, etc.

I don't have top-brand earbuds, and I end up replace them more often than I'd like, due to mediocre build quality (Vimes Boot Theory But For Earbuds, right here). I find that I maybe have to clean them once or twice across the few years of ownership I get out of them before they need replacing due to hardware fault.

Might be your 'wax, might be your rig. Are the ear pieces sized too large, causing friction? Does it happen with a different brand or texture of silicone earpieces? Does it happen often during high activity and/or increased heat? (exercise/etc)?

ive never taken earbuds whenever im out and about doing stuff, mostly cus im worried the damn things are gonna fall out lmao

but otherwise ive tried dozens of different brands, and they've all ended up the same way: clogged up and filthy. it's disgusting as hell, and trying to clean them up is an absolute nightmare just due to the nature of their design.

i really wish there was something similar to over-ear headphones that could also fit in your pocket like earbuds 😔
