I remember reading a text (I don't know if it was an interview or an essay) where Conand Doyle himself remarked on how few stories have a murder as their central mysteries.
I'd really love a big-budget adaptation that only updates the original story to modern references, such as literally pulling the cases from Craig's List and, rather than "a Drug Problem," Sherlock is just a pretentious techbro with a subscription to whatever the nootropics people are into this week...
