Had a few really interesting chats about how manga series work yesterday...after whining to literally everyone about how Chasing After Aoi Koshiba ended. One of my more enlightened friends reminded me that this is just how serialized manga go sometimes. Everything is great with the publisher until it isn't and suddenly you have 2 chapters to wrap up when you needed 5 or 6.

I've read my fair share of series that are like this ("Our Wonderful Days" pops to mind, and "If I Could Only Reach You"). I feel that, as long as you can be a bit understanding, there's a lot of good you can still get out of these series.

So, with regards to that, I'll break my "short reviews" into at least two parts: "overall" and "ending". Why? Well, I read romance yuri, the ending really matters. Even if it's not the authors fault, I kind of want to give folks a heads up like, "hey, the ending is rough, series is good, but ending is rough...be ready."

So, for CAAK it would look like this:
Overall: 4/5
Ending: 1/5

Again, I don't really blame the author, it feels like they had the rug pulled out from under them. But honestly, most of the story was cute, fun, well written and beautifully illustrated. I ended up really liking the main characters and really wanted them to be happy in the end. Just...be warned the ending is abrupt and you may need to create a little head canon to make it make sense, but.... I think I'd still suggest reading it if you like cute yuri series set in high school :)
