I've read a bunch of the stuff in your top picks already, but I do want to say I am so glad to see someone else recommending Even Though We're Adults. God they are such disasters and I love each and every one of them

Even though we’re adults is probably one of the best yuri manga ever published and I’d wholeheartedly a billion percent recommend it to anyone who loves women, messy relationship drama and just like reding comics about the realest shit

I’d throw in that while it is, most definitely, a beautiful messy disaster: I love how earnest the characters tend to be regardless, especially Ayano. It’s less “we are currently, purposefully, making a disaster because we all suck” and more “oh….oh god I let this het relationship go too far and I am, after all, as it turns out, gay. How do I deal with this?!” The fallout is written so friggin well. Watching the characters sort through it is, imo, extremely gratifying…

God do I need to go reread it again? I just reread it last week!!! Oh well :P

Takako Shimura just does such a good job making people feel messy and real. I have a real soft spot for her work and every time I read something by her Im never left with the feeling of the characters falling back into tropes or repeating the same beats. They just feel like stories about actual people

i started reading it a few days ago, was glad to see it on your list... her characters are so messy but they feel incredibly true and resonated with me too, i can't help but wish the best for all of them. i havent been able to find any volumes past 8 but really want to read the last two...

The INCREDIBLY rare yuri demographic of divorced women in their 30s with careers! Any time I reread this series I feel like I ought to have less patience for stories about teens and people in their early 20s. It’s so nice seeing a portion of my own experience laid out by Shimura, and so gracefully
