It's for a robotic companion that helps you while you play video games, haha.
Just total nonsense. Why would anyone need an automated 'little sibling' mode?
I mean, some people ask ChatGPT for advice on video games, and that's basically the same thing as this :p
If we're particularly lucky, we miiiight be living in the timeline where SONY benevolently patents a bunch of stuff purely to stop anybody from trying to implement it.
If we're particularly unlucky, they're still serious about making this stuff someday.
But my guess is it's a third option. They probably gave up on these ideas because they realized they wouldn't actually make money.
Real talk tho if we had to deal with commercials requiring -minigames- to end them I'd probably have become a full on pirate party activist. o_o
Like... That's a level of YIKES I hadn't even considered.
#3 is already a thing - in some mobile game ads.
But it does not speed up the ad - not to infringe on Sony's patent :v
Sometimes you just file a patent to bury it, sometimes you also get to have some fun with the bad idea.
