Creature Comforts part 2, sketched in Blender
(feat. on the far left, a flawed thumbnail recreation from memory of my current phone lock screen, "luna comes to me in a dream" by sofas + quills)
The far-left thumbnail is an exercise I hadn't thought to try until recently -- picking an art piece I really like, redrawing it from memory/without reference, then comparing it to the original and finding out how it differs. I've done it with that specific piece three times so far; It puts me in conversation with the art in a way I'm usually not, and (to the extent art's a series of choices made against a blank canvas) it encourages me to be more thoughtful about things that usually pass me by
In future recreations I'd like to try to think more outside the box, and to be less gosh-darn literal about my own reinterpretation of the subject matter. I want to take things I like, probe into 'em from a mind's-eye perspective, and draw how they actually hit
