So I'm making a gardening game where you plant pixelated pngs of plants in a series of 7 walled gardens around the base of a tower and each garden represents the balance of audio in a loop. Then when you go into the hall in the center you can hear the full sequence of all the individual loops in order blending between the balances defined by your planting pattern. It's been way too long since I worked on a more experimental walking sim type thing :3

I agree, that's why I invested in some archviz cutout paths and wrote a batch image resizer and posteriser in godot. I just really wanted to capture that aesthetic and now that I can run around planting them it feels so worth it.

That's the hope. it's my first proper foray into focusing on the feedback loop od interaction and audio so hopefully I can make something engaging with the concept. I really want to have some options for placed plants to trigger extra samples or placement time to create new trigger points in the loop or something but I'm starting with just adjusting the balance of stems.

this is really cool!! this reminds me, back when the pandemic started I made a little demo in unity as a learning project, where I made a big outdoors map and hid several orbs in it. each one produced a different instrument in a music loop, and if you brought them to one place it unlocked the door to the next level. I got stumped trying to determine how the game would progress from there so that's all I ever made for it. It was a really nice thing in early 2020 to be able to run around a big field and throw orbs though

this rules! If you still have the files I think having it just end after that would be acceptable for a pwyw release on itch. There's so much value even in projects you might see as unfinished or a learning project. I've played some stuff where different stems are placed spatially but I don't think I've seen them carryable as objects as part of a key like that.
