Holy shit that was the most fun I've had running Shadowrun.

First things first, we had some pre-vacation stuff to cover.

  • Progress made on finding a buyer for the stolen hardware from a few sessions ago, and progress on the Mage's attempt to ruin the Humanis Politician's life by deep-faking.
  • Rolled the lifestyle check for everyone. Camille failed this time. Party is incredibly worried because I said I'm cashing that in later.
  • Party is going on this workcation because their main employer, the Draco Foundation, needs them to recover a chip that was stolen from one of the dragon's houses.
  • The thief is a genderfluid elf named Jean Leroy. They have a reservation at the resort between September 9th through September 11th, but the exact day of their arrival is not known.
  • Two party members spent 10k to bring a contact: Mike brought his friend and fight organizer, and Camille brought her family friend/neighbor/former runner. Each immediately got +1 Loyalty for taking them on a bitchin' vacay.
  • They spent some time getting familiar with the locations, and did some preliminary scouting.
  • On the morning of the first day, Rodge tried to look into the top floor, where the room of the target was located, but was pushed out by a mage finishing a Mana Barrier ritual.
  • Camille, Johnny and Mike did morning Yoga. Mike got an autograph from the lead commentator for the Ultimate Fighting League.
  • Afternon: Mike tried to talk to a surfer dwarf, Mike did not understand surfing. Camille and Rodge drove dune buggies. Rodge rolled his dune buggy. Johnny tried to get more details about Jean, but her registration was hidden in the system by someone. Later that day, the entire record of the 14th floor was removed.
  • Evening: Johnny went to the hotel bar, Rodge made it past first cut at the poker tourney and made a new friend, Camille skulked around after leaving the Luau BBQ early, Mike took in the UFL card.

To wrap this, I want to separate a few moments that got strong reactions from the party.

  • The party upon hearing that resort security is tight, meaning weapons would be hard to smuggle in.
  • The party upon 3 party members getting flagged by the same security guard upon entering the resort. The fourth party member, Johnny, didn't have any weaponry on him. Mike, the boxer, didn't need to bring anything but brought a stun baton. It's listed as Restricted but he was allowed to keep it after a short chat. Rodge, the mage, got caught bringing a light pistol in, but it was properly registered to a believable enough ID, and had to turn it in to the hotel security deposit box. Camille, the weapon's expert, tried to sneak in a pistol and a taser, and got bodied beyond space and time in her opposed check. The guard out rolled her with a 3 dice deficit, then, when the ID was called in, hit 4 on 8 dice to check the registered (fake ID), which beat the Fake ID's threshold. Only some quick thinking by Rodge kept her from being detained, but her weaponry was confiscated and is being held at the station.
  • The party discovering that Lyman Strang, the current Humanis senate candidate who's surging in the polls, was there. Then relief when they found out he was unrelated to what they were doing, but that didn't stop them from tracking him all day.
  • Mike, specifically, when the other two finalists of the Fighting Battle Royale (The one that got busted up by Knight Errant) showed up. They are members of the runner group The League, and Johnny found out they're providing security for someone.

All in all, day 1 of the vacation was a great success. Don't know if next week is just Day 2 or if it'll be both Day 2 and Day 3, wrapping the vacation up. This might be an arc where no combat happens though.

in reply to @Jama's post:

A couple people bought them at creation, and one person buying multiple to split up their item and home registrations, so it felt like a good time to call on it when being flagged by security for being suspicious.
