Tabletop, video games, sports and maybe someday some other things if I get the ambition to learn.

Think it's time to start prepping the D&D4e interlude one shot.

"Huh, what should the theme of this short adventure be... Well, better create the game in Foundry. oh a name... uh...

Darkhives? Like a weird library? Yeah. I can work with that"

Party comp will be Runepriest, Swordmage, Hunter and Vampire. I let the player more familiar with 4e choose the classes. Haven't decided what race each character will be (might match it to their SR character race), and who's playing what archetype.

The obvious answer is to let them play to their archetype. Let Mike be the Swordmage (Defender), let Camille be the Vampire (Striker), Rodge the Hunter (Controller) and Johnny the support Rune priest (Leader). It's also fit character wise sort of.

I'd like to push them out of their normal comfort zones but at the same time, they play the archetype because they like that archetype. The only ones I know who would enjoy mixing it up would probably be Mike and Rodge, because their players are down for whatever. Making Camille a the tanky Defender role might lead to a moment or two where, if she in character struggles with the shift of abilities, holds back only to find she's got no super long ranged abilities. This could lead to an interesting moment.

But now I'm weighing that moment with the remaining two to six hours they all spend in these characters over the course of one or two sessions.

Hell, do I even do 4e if I'm finding this group to be better suited for kick down the door high octane stuff? Do I pivot to a Dungeon World?

I don't know. I'm rambling, and it's 2am and I'm stuck on the toilet as I type this out on my phone. I'm tired and my antidepressant has worn off so I think I'll figure it out tomorrow.

Maybe.
