Me reading GURPS Lite last night: "yup. Like the roll under mechanic. Increasing skill and attribute makes rolling under and getting good margins of success easy, yup yup. Nice. Now what's this table...

...

Why does this game have different damage rolls for thrusting attacks and slashing attacks based on your Strength?"

The answer given by the book is that they're different mechanics and slashing let's you use lever mechanics with your arm and shit while thrusting has less leverage and game, I don't need that granularity my guy.

I played gurps for years with an older gm who knew it backwards and forwards. Character creation was a lot, but once you got though that it played great and was simple to follow.

Except for combat, which in all my years playing, I could never understand. Thankfully, this gm, like all good gms, knew combat was the least interesting part of TTRPGs, so we didn't do much.
