Tabletop, video games, sports and maybe someday some other things if I get the ambition to learn.

I am posting some really unimportant, excessively petty, social media Numbers™️ shit below the cut. Feel free to skip.

How the fuck are more people following me here than the 8 years I was on Twitter.

Just had to get that out.

I'm in a similar space. I chalk it up to three things - the site's small, the site's young, and folks can surf through tags. When the site's small and you get in "early," it's easier to stand-out in the small crowd or go viral. I really feel for anyone who followed me because I posted a funny excerpt from The Elusive Shift, because they've gotten months of my tabletop prattling in-exchange.

Longer term, I suspect being able to follow tags and see who posts in the ones you like helps. I never used tumblr, but I have the (possibly incorrect) impression that's partly how that site works. It's easier to find folks who share your interests and who you might want to follow when you don't have to rely on either knowing someone from something else (writing, podcasts, videos, etc.) and you don't have to wait for an algorithm to show you something.
