Is giving a turret the equivalent of an Ion Cannon overkill? Probably. Is giving it the ability to fire sooner than it's countdown timer says it should be able to, because there are batteries the team should destroy a bad idea? Absolutely.
Is scaring them with a weapon that deals 20 damage and would normally need 3 turns to charge only need 1, until they start destroying batteries hilarious and puts them on a timer? Also yes.
