daily knowledge: in July of 2017, SoundCloud laid off 173 employees (40% of the company) as the CEO told both staff and investors that the company only had enough funding for the next 50 days. upon hearing this, Chance the Rapper knew what he had to do. he picked up his phone, tweeted out "I'm working on the SoundCloud thing," and gave Alex Ljung, founder and then CEO of the company a call.
he rallied his followers in support of the company, before finally tweeting "Just had a very fruitful call with Alex Ljung. @SoundCloud is here to stay."
