Sometimes it's fun to think about the wage theft employers do. I sometimes think about it from my old job.

I worked at a call center and we weren't supposed to log into our phones until the exact start of our shift, but we had to be all set up and ready to take calls. Now, if I'm remembering right, that sort of shit is considered Work. So that's 5-10 extra minutes per day before shift, plus another 0-10 minutes after to finish up any leftover tickets that were there, when you were told to sign off the phone once your last call ended, even if the ticket wasn't closed yet.

Going to be generous and say 5 minutes of prep work before every shift, and only 2 days per week of extra 5 minutes at the end. That's an extra 35 minutes of unpaid work a week.

35 * 52 weeks gives us 1820 minutes, or roughly 30.3 hours a year.

At base pay of $13/hour, that's $394.33/year unpaid

Let's multiply that by the 100 employees and that's a $39,433.33 overage per year. A drop in the bucket for the company but one they're willing to slurp down still.
