Quick Food/Grocery Tip from ol' Jama.
Cold Deli Rotisserie Chicken is a godsend.
If your grocery store sells hot rotisserie chicken, there's a chance they will sell it cold too. Our store, when one doesn't sell, will carve them up and put them in different sized containers. This pre-shredded chicken rules so much.
Pros
- Doesn't count as prepared food so covered by EBT
- Versatile, can be used in soups, pastas, sandwiches, omelettes, etc.
- Easy. It's pre cut up so you don't have to do anything for it, and you can just use it to make a meal more complete for an easy protein.
Cons
- Perishable. No preservatives means you need to use it within a week usually.
- Kind Of Expensive? It's ~$5 for about a week's worth (~0.7 lbs), but that's with my partner being the only one using it for lunch sandwiches.
- Not good on its own. If you're having trouble cooking this won't be a miracle meal fix. It can cut out some prep work but if you're in "No energy to cook mode" it won't save you.
