xD i just ran across the -F option for ls, and while inspecting the output, i couldnt figure out why some files had an asterisk and others didnt... but eventually i figured it out... the thing is, im using CYGWIN and apparently files created by windows apps will write as with executable bit set per default while e.g. emacs writes them per default without the x.... sooooooo :shrug: not very helpful in that directory, but it was a leaf folder with only source code, so you wouldnt expect that... and yes, indeed i have used chmod +x before on this shell, but on a script i have written and i didnt use some sort of wildcard either... that was my first suspicion to be quite frank as well
