i think smart phones are just evil, they sap away your time and attention in a very specific way that a computer or even (to some extent) an older cell-phone can't. it's an immersive thing anywhere you go, and you can't really escape from it while it's on your person at all times, and you kind of need it on your person at all times, because "what if someone needs to call me?", but of course, calling is one thing we don't really do anymore, it's a relic of pre-VoIP shit, i can't remember the last time i called my friend with their phone number

this isn't to say they don't have utility, it's the fact that they have too much utility, they are infinitely satiative, it is almost painful how you can waste away with just a phone. i hate it and i wish i had something else, just to get away from the "all"ness of ubiquitous computing, the power to watch literally anything at any time all the time. it just AAAAAHHGHG
