i'd like to take these few lines and say:

i prefer otherland's vr over ready player one because it felt organically grown rather than "supplied" or "provided"

allthough tad williams vision was governed centrally by some UN(?) office, this had more to do with registering your node to make sure you didnt do any illegal things on there... or something. idk really, the books were more about the story than the exact way their internet was governed. but it definetly wasnt as stupid as one company owning it and allowing everyone else to use it out of niceness basically and for a stupidly tiny charge and all that.

i root for the organically-grown vr-net over the corpo-provided metaverse
