in reply to @Janet's post:

Catholicism has a kind-seeming old abuelo (...maybe tío actually) in a very fancy chair going for it though. Probably the best hint you're gonna get. At least the fancy chair will be going down with you if you're wrong lol

mind blown, apparently the Pope only metaphorically sits in the fancy chair, the chair is actually hidden? entirely enclosed by a sculpture made by Bernini? the metaphors that inspires abound... the literal Holy See hasn't been taken out of a very fancy sculpture in almost 50 years. that's four popes ago. sheesh.

Also if you ask me fascism is invidia. the root of fascism is envy of "the enemy", egged on alternately by fear and pride.

yeah, its possible my categorization (that was not really that serious) is off and also possible that some concepts have roots in multiple of those sins.

originally i wanted to write something different, but while rewatching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaASqPnpq5Y i had the spark, that money with the sole purpose of growth is just greedy. that owning and hoarding private property the way it is often done nowadays is just gluttonous... that basically those things have become a second nature to us. that probably even the most observing catholics are doomed.. if any of that made up crap is true.

then i looked up the 7 sins and tried to mix and match concepts...

oh yeah, got sidetracked again. originally i wanted to write more about the missing third place, in my mind i was comparing my neighbourhood with the way it could be. the way it might be in a tiny village someplace.. though yeah i still need to brood on that.. would be less of a shitpost too and contain probably about 0% blasphemy

I get what you mean, kinda exporting “there’s no ethical anything under capitalism” into a Catholic framework. You’re right, for sure, there’s a reason we’ve had so many notable Catholic leftists, many involved in the labor movement, liberation theology, etc. My own socialist views are heavily inspired by traditional Catholic leftism, even though I’m only a variable amount of Catholic myself.

What deadly sin made the entire church drop leftism to chase after abortion for the last fifty years?

well, comming from the german names i would say superbia and perhaps invidia with a dash of acedia.

superbia because they believe there is no valid reason to abort. it's funny really because they put their piety above other peoples livelyhoods. god might be angry that someone aborted their rapepregnancy? fuck god then.

invidia because most often than not it is those who wanted something for themself who are against implementing it later. like how some boomers think it would be the end of the world to forgive student debts.

and acedia because they are to lazy to properly empathize with those who would want to abort.

a tiny heap of salt ... just for good measure, sometimes people read stuff written eons ago and go: HEY IMMA TAKE THAT AT FACE VALUE

i'm pro-choice: no salt neccessary here.
