My main concern is I heard the AI is too passive and doesnt attack/counterattack very much. I honestly just really want to play the game single player to take advantage of the specific combination of tactical pause + smaller scale(compared to, say, steel division 2) + spectacle. A wonky metacampaign or just spamming skirmishes is fine for me as long as the AI can provide some basics...
At least launch relic games are very different from later on, COH2 and AOE4 improved a lot. Just may not be diving into it much the first few months if that AI issue remains..
It is fairly aggressive in regular skirmish battles. Maybe the rumors are about the campaign AI? Because I took half of Italy before I saw any pushback.
Hmm, I heard people talking about how if its on a map where taking objectives is important to winning, it wont push enough and so on, too passive. So I dont think its just campaign AI?
Sounds like it may be an inconsistency thing. Some things may cause it to be insufficiently passive, etc. Certain conditions triggering a bug or something- that usually explains contradictory reports in games like these.
Regardless Im glad to hear the skirmish AI is at least sometimes plentifully aggressive! So ill probably get a lot of what I want out of it at least. Thanks for the blog and the response.
Well, yeah, the push in missions can sometimes really be there - or not be there. Maybe it's more pronounced in the victory points missions since AI is usually fairly interested in grabbing territory sectors, and victory points ain't that, chief.
Oh also is there any particular reason that tank and APC(or IFV..? im not as familiar with cold war vehicles) are in your header? Are those favorite-looking vehicles of yours or is it just a photo you like? Just curious since I enjoy that sort of thing due to a fixation on ww2 in my youth, lol.
I'm sitting on a (Polish?) T-55AM2 - the T-55 being the most produced tank of all time!
Oh, I thought you meant the blog banner! But my Cohost cover is also a T-55, and that may be a Hungarian APC in the background.
Ahh, i see. I didnt know the t-55 was the most produced but that makes sense.
Heres a couple posts you may enjoy(can ignore ofc), reminded of them since i mention the silly multiturreted t-35 in one:
