The anti-FSM argument is mutating in new and hideous forms
I don't even remember my original shitty arguments aside from "they're space warrior monks, girls ruin the vibe" maybe.
I'm currently at "as long as they're not done retroactively.
the Daughters of Caliban(? I'm pretty sure that was the planet) are a chapter older than I am. but they also predate the "boys only" retcon, so I'm sure no one would accept it. though we've had universe-altering changes plenty of times already
I tried finding anything on them in Lexicanum. Didn't find shit, but maybe they weren't added to any of the Marine lists.
I've recently read that Marines only became REALLY the Marines I like in 4E or so, previously being less elite and less monk.
Rogue Trader Marines are an entire beast altogether.
they were in a super old scenario iirc - probably RT yeah. I can't find them myself now either (in or out of lexicanum) but they were Definitely the 'daughters of something' and also space marines.
but yeah 3rd/4th is where the current ideas of marines really solidified. I just don't think that means they're immutable or immune to a complete retcon a la necrons in 5th (which also changed the lore for orks and eldar I think?). I don't have enough investment in the faction as a whole to fight on the discourse hill for it though; I don't think they're ever gonna change regardless
Hey, 8th edition showed that they can change!
For worse.
I'm probably the dumbest boy on God's green earth: #1 Space Marine fan and #1 Space Marine treatment by GW hater.
Oh no is it time to dust off my “actually there are no MALE Space Marines” essay again
