I think Squad or ARMA tries to simulate some of the associated delay by not making mounting/dismounting instantaneous, but it still looks like shit from the outside.

Also, getting out through the hatches could have like two or three intermediary states: halfway out of the hatch (interrupt to shoot), out of the hatch (interrupt for regular FPS gameplay) and on the ground (proceeds to regular FPS gameplay).

We find the funding for that by [redacted] the publisher's CEO.

I’ve never gotten through the campaigns either. ArmA exists to me as a single player with AI squadmates or coop adventure with up to 64 other complete idiots in public servers where our job is to liberate the entire map from AI forces. They’re not that smart but they have numbers, air support and artillery. You’ve got xXpuzzySlaerXx doing CAS in an A10 upside down and someone arguing with his girlfriend about what toppings their Pizza Hut deep dish should be while flying you and 6 other of your battle buddies straight into the shit via little bird.

By the time you’re dismounting and he’s dusting off they’ve decided on pepperoni and mushrooms
