how does Kojima keep getting away with objectively silly concepts in all of his games? Is it, at this point, cultural cachet of some sorts? Like I'm seeing Sam ride the Ride With Norman Reedus bike and hear him go "this bike should be in Ride With Norman Reedus" - an outrageously immersion breaking thing - and go "heh, that's our Hideo."
HOW DID HE GET AWAY WITH "DO YOU WANT TO SEE HEARTMAN'S HEART-SHAPED HEART?"
I have no idea. I have no idea what separates silly [based] from silly [stupid].
But maybe the gameplay plays some part in it. You love Death Stranding not because of the story or the world, but the gameplay and the vibes, maybe. And since the story is expendable, Kojima has more room to throw wild shit at the wall and not even look at what sticks because it already sticks to him. Everyone's there to deliver packages on foot, build ziplines over a ghost forest to avoid interacting with ghosts and feel very good when they see that others upvoted their constructions.
That's what I assume, at least. I haven't interacted with the community much and I haven't read reviews or essays about Death Stranding. I just see the absence of memes, and I assume people are mostly OK with the plot without having much investment in the world of Death Stranding
you know how all of the joker's evil schemes are like grim and edgy highly elaborate setups designed to make batman really sad and make him question his morals so that at the end of every joker scheme he gets to go "ha Ha, but I am the REAL winner batman" and the joker basically never loses. it's really frustrating. part of why i stopped reading comics is because they won't fucking stop with the joker, and every story with the joker is basically the same except they do a twist like "there's three jokers this time."
so ok heres my pitch below the read more.
My villainous power is that the writers want me to look much smarter than you, but the final effect is that I'm like one of those hacker characters that can hack into things that have no network connectivity or electronic components
Instead of just including the Vraksian forces into the mod "just cos," they have to dream up some of the dumbest garbage that goes against the established lore.
Also, lmao Astartes "legions" in 40K
The mod will then also include 50 custom new models for units mentioned once in a Black Library book that look unbearably worse than anything in the original despite Dawn of War being a 20-year-old game at this point
