We went to a play reading tonight and one of the scenes involved a couple on their 25th anniversary. They're celebrating as a restaurant in eye of a tornado because the play is about apathy towards the apocalypse.
The man is amnesiac.
At some point, he starts asking the wife "what was before this?" which goes, over many such Q-A cycles, through the entire evolution to the primordial soup. This eventually leads to the wife declaring that maybe it was God incarnating into the first organic mollecule, so maybe evolution is God?
Which then proceeds into a rendition The Lord's Prayer and Hail Mary, but remixed to be about DNA.
"Amen" is "Amoeb" btw
I felt that it was an indulgent display of something the writer felt was very smart and may even transgressive that doesn't add anything to the play.
BUT MAYBE I'M A CATHOLAILURE FAILSON TRIGGERED SNOWFLAKE?!
