The Bretonnia reveal yesterday presented another batch of new character models (even if it hurts me to call a banner-bearer a character), a single new actual unit, and which kits will be returning when Warhammer: The Old World launches in early 2024.

So, the returning unit kits are:

  • Pegasus Knights
  • Knights of the Realm/Errant
  • Men-at-Arms
  • Peasant Bowmen
  • Field Trebuchet, which returns in a hell of its own because it has been redone in resin. Forge World resin. Which means not only working with a material only slightly less annoying than metal, but also baying $FW for formerly-metal kit that came out in 6th edition.

Alongside these new and returning kits which form the bulk (or entirety) of your force, there will also be a selection of returning metal heroes and specialist units that will be available to order direct from games-workshop.com.

Considering how long Kirby's GW let Bretonnian range languish, we're going to see some UGLY metal motherfuckers rubbing square bases with the fanciest plastic kits GW can produce.

Sheesh!

What an absolutely forgettable movie!

Two notable things:

  • Heroes never kill anyone: for the murder-hobo simulator movie, they go to some absurd lengths to depict that anyone the heroes - including the axe-wielding barbarian - fought survived. She dunks a guard's head in molten iron. A short or two later, we can see that guy trying to put out his clothes that had caught fire. The only sorta exception is the druid, maybe.
  • It absolutely doesn't represent DnD mechanics: the garbage "Vancian" spell mechanics? Gone. Sorcerors being any different from wizards? Nope. Rests of any sort? Not a thing. Any limitations on Wildshape that exist in the game? Lmao. Lol.

It's more of a forgettable Forgotten Realms movie, really.

On the other hand, it's true to the unspoken rule that the only way to have fun with DnD is not to follow the dogshit rules.

TIL: German army inherited and modernized a bunch of E-German BMP-1s. The BMP-1A1 Ost. upgrade made them a little more comfortable (heater for the troop compartment, plastic covers on periscopes to prevent head injuries) and safe to use while also complying with German traffic laws (replacing headlamps, adding read lamps, etc.).

However, it also made them inferior in combat capabilities to the base model as they removed the auto-loader and ATGM launcher.

BMP-1A1 Ost. only served in the Heimatschutz (reserve) divisions that were created by converting former Volksarmee divisions.

They better show some Legions minis AND MAYBE ANNOUNCE THE LAUNCH DAY.

I got so desperate, I messaged the store I buy minis from whether they know anything.

They didn't, but the support person google'd a Spikey Bits speculation article on the topic. Top of the line customer support!

Also, the theory is that the rulebook went out to the influencers with major errors and had to be returned to be fixed and reprinted.

The game was meant to come out in August. It's October and there's no release date.

Some personal theories on what was so bad about the rulebook:

Every instance of letter "n" was replaced with the n-word.
Instead of the rules for running, they printed the entirely of the John Galt speech.
One page was printed on asbestos.
