it's funny how little effort they put into supporting the idea that thrawn is a hypercompetent strategic and/or tactical genius

What doesn't help is that most writers - notably for sci-fi, a field that often includes military shit - know about war about as much as their audience. Mainly, that they watched Saving Private Ryan once and still resent having had to learn history in school.

Everything works out fine in the end since, as previously noted, major audiences' understanding of war is not unlike that of a brick of tofu.

There's also another thing playing in the show writers' favor: fans of multimillion dollar media franchises have some of the lowest standards on Earth. While you're pondering whether the show does a good job of depicting a military genius, they're flooding Twitter with posts about how Ashoka swinging her lightsabers at some zombies like a geriatric is the most sublime fight choreography since Michael cast down Satan.

This would mean fully replacing the Mk3s that I have now, but if I'm ever dipping my toes into 28mm again, I'm probably going to redo my guys with Tortuga bodies, and then look into buying some new plastic.
