I haven't played it in 15 years or so, but it was kickin rad even at the time when I was simultaneously playing Mass Effect 1.

Considering the games that have been released since (Mass Effect 2 & fucking 3, Star Control: Origins, etc.), it may be even more baller today than it was back then.

the thing you have to understand is that no DRM is unbreakable with enough time

They cracked that one.

Cracked the stupid limited-installs-computer-register on Red Alert 3, not that it was worth it. That one was always more of a pain for legit users, lol.

Probably the most involved DRM breaking scheme I remember was either for X2 or X3, one of the steps was to disable or disconnect the CD-drive.

Thing that people who can't allow themselves to pay $80 for a game don't have: $80

Thing that people who can't allow themselves to pay $80 for a game do have: time

And I don't know how the cracking scene is these days, but back in the day, you'd have them on day 1 99% of the time.
