The Mk IV and Mk III kits were some of the first plastics Horus Heresy got. Naturally, they got hit hard by scale creep and especially the Mk IVs now look very small when compared to the new beakies.

But fuck those guys, Mk IIIs got the first scale update and I'm both happy AND unsure just how I feel about it.

On one hand, the picklehaube helmets definitely put "Dark" in the "Age of Darkness" and Mk III is my favorite mark. On the other hand, the helmets look smaller and less imposing than the default Mk III ones.

The stubby backpack vents look worse than the current kit's, but if this means that they're not two piece anymore, it's all worth it.

The smaller bolter I both like and dislike. Weird, I know.

If I got them, I'd probably have to rebody my current Mk IIIs with Tortuga bits and maybe even make mixed squads of old and new Mks.

The new Legiones Astartes Battle Group contains 30 new MkIIIs, a LR Proteus and a Daredeo dread

Oh, and the new box will also contain the new plastic Daredeo. It only has the sexy weapon options (ACs and plasma). Still not atomatic pavaise (tho iirc, it's not even in the rules anymore)

Have you seen this model? Missing since July 2016, Last seen Open Day. Responds to: Atomantic Pavaise. Very friendly to Terminators. Usually scene with his friend Deredeo
It took me years to start liking how the dang robot looks like, but I always like the idea of the pavaise providing a moving shield to the infantry that clusters around it, forming a mobile fire base

I'd like a Leviathan more than the 'deo, but LR Proteus and MkIIIs are the perfect package. Maybe I'll buy it one day - currently, the main focus is on Legions Imperialis.

Snake daemon Fulgrim, a model nobody will ever be able to transport

forgeworld exec: everyone loves fallen angels with torn wings, what if we made a model that had shattered wings

My pod cohost has the right idea about this.

Personally, I want people who think that Primarchs in a 28mm game are a good idea to suffer and this model will deliver the pain in spades.

** Let’s rip the plaster off now – no, this model won’t be getting rules for Warhammer 40,000.

Oh, neat, it will also hurt another pack of insufferable dipshits! I love daemon Fulgrim!

some sort of Orc smith

A neat model, and the anvil squig is great.

half naked orcs in crude masks swinging balls on chain
This is the better half of the new IRONJAWZ(TM)(R)(C) Brute/Weirdbrute kit. I love the masks, especially the Uruk-Hai bomber one on the left.

'ardboyz updated with the the Ironjawz aesthetics

You know what? This is a good upgrade for 'ardboyz. While the whole orc split in AoS is still fairly dumb and we lost the classic sword-and-board boyz, making the 'ardboyz look more rough and ramshackle is a good way to update the kit and I wouldn't mind using them in the The Old World, provided they can rank up on square bases (and The Old World ruleset is worth a damn).

Plus, more spear representation!

New Damsel character for The Old World

Speaking of The Old World, this lady is fine. If the whole Bret range gets updated, I'll be happy as a clam.

Weirdly enough, the two losers of the NOVA open are the AoS-adjacent games that have consistently produced the most compelling kits: Warcry and Underworlds.

One lad with a bow and another lad with a dog

Of the whole GORGER/Wildercorps Hunter kit, the Gorgers look the least interesting (though they have been part of Ogre lineup forever, just nobody really cared about them). Their Mawpit is some interesting terrain for any game.

The Wildercorps Hunters are excellent, continuing the trend of the new Cities of Sigmar design line never missing a beat.

DEATHGORGE pits Slaaneshi daemons against the worst elves

Idoneth vs. non-Diaznettes is a losing proposition for me from the get go, and the kit is no exception. Yawn.

However, to end on a more positive note, vampires!

Some of the new Blood Bowl vampires

I always look at BB models as potential (read: never gonna happen) conversion fodder and the new vamp team is perfect for those who want fantasy vampires to be more poet shirt than VtM Nosferatu.
