any fiction writer, character artist, designer. any researcher or journalist, and all the kindest friends who find the question's answer before you even have time to search yourself

we've all googled something one fucking time and had your targeted ads think you a person entirely new

i have researched hair types that are not my own, i have looked up image references of vitiligo, i buy femme and masc clothes. i research countries i do not live in and businesses i would never patronize.

yet the interface i use to search is a business funded largely by selling ads and associated data, however indirectly

a search engine's priorities laying in profit is bad, we all know this. but it's also insidious thinking, this assumption that knowledge only exists to build a data profile on a user.

i live in objection to the capitalist assumption that one would only ever seek knowledge self-applicable. that first and foremost, the reason to look up information is to, yourself, capitalize on it.

i don't want ads to represent a false me, a version built from simply wanting to understand.

i don't want ads to represent me at all.

...and if i see one more goddamn Hims/Hers ad because google can't decide if i'm a guy or a girl, i'm going to Secret Third Thing

Is YouTube doing psuh recommends on phone

of old videos

of the channel I just subscribed to.

Oh, thanks, I have an issue of perceiving linnear time, I'm baby who believes that the YouTuber never existed before I watched their first video. You have to remind me that they made works before I discovered them, thabk you.

Morrowind Sharp gets my seal of approval for being a very-much vanilla mod that introduces a bunch of stuff to make the game look and feel more modern. There are also some QoL touches that honestly could have been in the main game.

Notably, the lul-randum combat is still in, but I can live with that. If anything, I'm afraid of adding even the smallest mod to make it different out of fear that everything would explode in my face.

The only real downside is that I had to start over with a new character (Orc Battlemage under the sign of the Astronach).

An Unreal(TM) downside is that making money is really hard, can't just cheeze a single Daedric ruin guard to steal their armor.

i havent been catholic for many years, but i was still raised catholic and there are Various Christian Things that still get to me on an emotional level. for instance, the entirety of the Oh Hellos album Dear Wormwood. but another thing is The Battle Hymn of the Republic. "As he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free" always gives me goosebumps. most patriotic songs don't get me. i'm not patriotic. but abolitionist songs? those can get me going.

Abolitionism transcends national boundaries, so you don't have to patriot-brained to like the song.

Also, I love how the same tune also contributed to Solidarity Forever and Blood on the Risers.

Oh, damn, it's also based on a song about John Brown, featuring lyrics like:

John Brown's body lies a-mouldering in the grave; (3Ɨ)
His soul is marching on!"

and

They will hang Jeff Davis to a sour apple tree! (3Ɨ)
As they march along!

Man, they knew how to make a mean fucking tune before anything slightly patriotic was subsumed by a wave of Alamosexualism.

But maybe that's the key: you have to sing about a goal that's larger than country for country's sake. Dulce et decorum not shagging the flag est.
