The Tau let GW let loose with their worst impulses.
Thus, the Tau fortification allowed for the dumbest thing known to man: the flying trench/wall.
This is so stupid, you usually need a Dawn of War modder to come up with something like this.

We have seen some sorry conversions previously, but the Cadian Shock Trooper ones are just massively sad.
The traitor version was fairly uninspired, but damn.
While I in general like the idea of a tank just... not dying, this ability is one of the clearest examples why Mortal Wounds were a dumb fucking idea:
Nothing prevents game devs from invent saves that ignore Mortal Wounds. Sure, they may not call it a "save" to preserve the illusion that MWs ignore all saves, but this ability is, in effect, 5+++.
Playing horde armies in 40K was always a fool's game where money is concerned, but the new Cadians being as/more/almost (depending on what Space Marine 10 boy troop squad you compare them to) expensive as Astartes is he-la-ri-ous.
Good thing I don't have plans to buy any except for potential Kill Team purposes.
