I decided to enter the FFC Strive tournament this weekend. In the lead up to this tournament I spent a lot of time getting bullied (affectionate) by my girlfriend, and I curled my hair.

Round 1, and I'm up against BlueHorkew's Testament. I'm familiar with the issues of this matchup, and all the ways Testament can keep Bridget locked out, but I was able to avoid getting 6P'd to death. I feel like my time in Street Fighter 6 has caused my defensive gameplay to improve greatly, keeping me from mashing on Stain State plus frames. I ended up shmixing them to death, moving on to my next match.
I'm 1 - 0
Up next in round 2, I'm facing off against another Testament, this time played by Booce. Having just fought another Testament, I start things off mostly the same: dodging Grave Reaper, baiting 6Ps, and shmixing when I get the opportunity. I end up getting my burst baited round 2 of our first game, but eek out a win in our third round.

Booce is a very patient player, which is both a blessing and a curse. I ended up capitalizing off of their passive roundstarts and minimal commitments to apply early and constant pressure. I end up taking the next round and move on to round 3 of the tournament.
I'm 2 - 0
After that Nonbinary Fight Club, I'm off to fight Pito and their Faust. Pito is a very strong player, and the last time we fought I went something like 8 - 20 against them, so I'm not feeling great going into this match.
Faust isn't that bad of a matchup for Bridget, but it's mostly about finding the gaps and exploiting them properly. One issue I recognized in their play early was their tendency to hit a target combo into item toss, feeling that their pressure has guaranteed them safety. If only Bridget had some way to quickly close the gap and hit her opponent...

So, yeah. We hit a Kick Start My Heart a lot in this match. Tito had a bad habit of hitting something hella minus and then either backdashing in a panic, or trying to mash out of pressure. They played very well on defense, but you can only block the mix for so long.
The next two games go about the same: Get pressured a bit, punish item toss, apply Gender Shmix, and break the wall. I have a problem dealing with Faust's j.2K and Love, but aside from that it was pretty clean.
I'm 3 - 0, going into Grand Finals
Loser's Finals happen, and it's between Pito and Booce, both players that I've knocked out of Winner's. Booce put up a good fight, but in the end Pito took the round 3 - 1. Which means it's time for...

We're back to fighting Pito. Turns out that they're still very good at playing Faust! I end up struggling a lot here, losing to the aforementioned Love and j.2K. Pito has also learned that they're not as safe as they'd hope after they finish their blockstring, and are blocking more often after item toss. This results in a lot of my pressure failing to take off quite as effectively, and I end up losing to them in Grand Finals.
I'm 3 - 1, going into Grand Finals Reset.
It's all on the line. I've come in 2nd place in the last three tournaments I've participated in for the Furry Fight Club, and I just wanna win once.
And motherfucker I busted out some m o v e s! There's always these little bits of optimization you practice and lab and work on, and then you get to a real game and forget. This time I decided not to forget. I'm hitting optimal pressure, I'm doing proper Rolling Movement mix, I'm hitting j.H feints. Shit man, I'm even hitting Rock The Baby FRC > j.S mix!

It was a stressful set of matches, but in the end I pulled through. Kinda scuffed; I won with Roger Dive of all moves, but it was enough for the win.
And hey...
I Finally Won A Tournament!
So yeah. Thanks for reading. I'm not sure if there are any tournaments left in the year. I'll definitely be getting back into SF6 and GGST more around January. Look out for me then!
GGs! And I hope you have a Happy Holiday!
