I'm watching a documentary about automats, which I'm not old enough to have ever been too, but am now weirdly nostalgic for them.
When I was a kid we would always take my grandma (who was from NY and was very nostalgic for them) to this sort of... Upscale cafeteria that she loved. Does anyone else remember these from the 80s? Art deco with lots of wood paneling, brass, dark carpets and high ceilings, maybe you'd all dress nice, but then it was still buffet style dining? I guess not really different from a golden corral, but it felt fancy. Maybe the food was better, idk, I was like six.
