Speaking of Bloodlines' soundscheme files, there's some fun trivia hiding in them.
It's of course well known knowledge that the game used Massive Attack's Angel as its menu music in development and, failing to secure the rights to the actual song, they got Rik Schaffer to instead make a new track which is basically the exact same thing.
But naturally, that's not the only placeholder they used, and 2 unused soundscheme files reveal some more placeholder tracks they used in development.
The first, test1.txt, features this entry for a placeholder combat track:
Combat
{
"Filename" "temp/Gravity_Kills-Guilty.mp3"
"Volume" "95"
}
Which is of course Gravity Kills - Guilty:
And then test2.txt features a slightly more fleshed out entry for Skinny Puppy - Hardset Head, also as a combat track:
Combat
{
"Filename" "temp/Skinny_Puppy-Hardset_Head.mp3"
"Volume" "80"
"Dry" "1"
"NoPause" "1"
}
test2.txt also makes mention of a non-combat track:
Music
{
"Filename" "music/Santa_Monica/Clinic - Come into Our RoomRemix3.mp3" //placeholder until compressed sound files are available
"Volume" "95"
"Dry" "1"
"NoPause" "1"
}
This of course was the placeholder track for The Asylum as confirmed by Brian Mitsoda on Twitter.

The unofficial patch actually ships this track in its files, in the appropriate directory, but I'm not sure where it's used in the patch, if anywhere. It's interesting that this track wasn't dropped in the temp directory like the others but instead placed inside Santa Monica's folder.
