WITH SQUEEZE & TEASE WARP
squeeze and tease? man this video equipment must be just like master chief's suit
oh i'm sorry to report that this is an entire genre of device, they've been making them with buttons like this for 60 years, and they are astoundingly, indescribably good to press. nothing presses like one of these.
this got me wondering if bidspotter.com had any good deals on video equipment and i ended up on short trip through the internet archive trying to find out who "echolab" was. turns out it was a production video equipment company that got bought by black magic design in ~2010 and now doesn't exist on the internet anymore. they did produce what is now the ATEM video switcher which i recognize as a brand so i imagine it's reasonably popular still.
their last generation of products apparently relied on ASICs from "Anchor Bay Technologies" which is also defunct, bought out by DVDO who seems to make consumer/prosumer grade video stuff these days.
They look a little like the buttons I get to press doing FM broadcasting
Wild guess: 1991? The LCD makes me think of Yamaha music gear of that era like the TG-77. Or like, 90s Kurzweil hardware
A producer knew once talked about 'squeezing'. He said that sometimes directors asked for the 'Paula Abdul' which was evidently an effect that became popular after the effect was used in her early music videos. Evidently it's when the the video is squeezed horizontally some percentage to make everyone look skinnier, but not enough to look odd.
