the problem with thinking "maybe i should take a more organized approach to getting better at guitar instead of just trying to learn whatever random song i think might be fun to play and more often than not finding most of it beyond my meager skills" is that there are 10 billion people online trying to Sell You Guitar Learning Materials and i absolutely cannot be bothered to sift through them but at the same time i don't even know if soliciting recommendations would find me an approach i vibe with. i guess it couldn't hurt though, so:

anyone got any recommendations for some electric guitar learning materials that i might not hate? there are way too many variables to specify so i won't bother trying to cast a narrower net than that. just throw things at the wall and i'll see if they stick

https://www.justinguitar.com/ is my go to and i think is pretty widely considered the gold standard, he explains the fundamentals really well and imo just has a good attitude about the whole thing so he's fun to listen to. funny australian guitar dad. there's some paid content on there but it's all more like music theory and more complicated concepts and the majority of it is free. fully recommend
