I have acquired a girlfriend who is a long time Tekken player and I started playing her a bit and getting my ass kicked. That was fun.
And then all of a sudden I found myself getting out of bed at 2am to test things my brain thought might work.
Tekken has SO many fucking issues. The midgame is basically just 52 characters with a 100 moves each full of knowledge checks. It's AWFUL... And I fucking love it.
Discovering that I can interrupt Kat 4,4,4,4,4 with a 10 frame after the third hit made me feel like a fucking genius.
Picking up combos and just learning a character to the point I can improvise weird hits feels ecstatic.
Watching a youtube short and finding out about Wall Jump Attacks made me feel like a fucking idiot for wanting to get into this fucking lovecraftian ass ancient tome documentation bullshit ass game.
But man... That's also kinda why I love it?
I don't think Tekken is a great competitive fighting game, for me.
But man. I love it as an entirely new thing on it's own.
Fighting games are about growth.
Tekken is that taken to a fucking silly and weird extreme.
I really wanna learn Bear only combos.
