Keep trying to get back into FFXIV but I keep getting too anxious about coming back and messing up my rotation and stuff during a dungeon, or dying too much, so I'm kinda locked before doing the next dungeon cause I don't wanna mess up a lot and bring down the party...

Does the dungeon have duty support? Then you can run it with NPCs and not worry about messing up in front of people. But also you shouldn’t worry about messing up in front of people, folks are understanding in FFXIV and won’t yell at you for it.
Yeah but I'm like, lvl 80, I feel like if I mess up at that level people will be annoyed. And playing with NPCs works, but it isn't really as satisfying as playing with other people to me
Oh no no, people still mess up all the time even at level 90. Don’t worry about it. :)
FWIW, if you're DPS, no one pays that much attention to your rotation in a dungeon. The one thing that will attract attention is if you're not using your AoEs on multi-target dungeon trash pulls at level 80, but otherwise as long as you're making a genuine attempt at your rotation, people are chill.
Re: dying too much, you can say the magic words to make 90% of players immediately forgive you for any goofs at the start of the dungeon: "I haven't played in a long time. I'm still relearning things. Sorry for any mistakes!" Nothing wrong with warming up by queueing a few lowbie dungeons, too!
with casual content like dungeons and trials people are generally pretty forgiving, but if you drop a "hey i'm relearning the game/haven't played in a while" everybody will be completely understanding!! everybody wants to be accommodating and kind and if you ask for help they'll usually try and offer it! just remember if somebody ends up stepping over a line to report them and they will usually get action taken against them!
