Saw something about a format called Curiosity. Basically 40 card, set specific constructed with rarity limits. Seemed neat but the ban system seemed kinda stressful. If you win, your rares/mythics are suspended for a week, win the week after that with those rares/mythics and they're banned.

I dunno kinda curious what you all think, I just thought it was weird for a format that was supposed to be more accessible, cause your deck could just get banned pretty quick. Feels like you'd have to have two decks just in case you strike gold.

Mostly I'm just thinking about every post I've seen railing against the very existence of a meta and how everyone who is playing a "meta" deck and not the OP's homebrew are lazy and unimaginative. The set constructed, rarity-limited part could be fun but the ban system seems like Too Much Work.

as someone who ran several weeks of weird format magic the thought of tracking all of that week to week sounds nuts

also it means commons/uncommons will never be restricted

the format i ran to increase diversity was conquest which had these rules:

  • build 3 60 card decks without sideboards.
  • no two decks can share any cards, besides basic lands.
  • play a bo5. once you win a game with a deck you can't play with that deck any more.

was pretty fun but building 3 decks is hard
