i get why fg tournament organizers don't wanna have a mask mandate when the rest of the US doesn't think it's important anymore, it's hard to enforce, there are weirdos who will complain etc etc etc

but it's still really disappointing given how much of a big deal covid is, especially for disabled and immunocompromised people. a community can hold itself to higher standards than the rest of society and it should! we're responsible for each other!! we can keep each other safe!

✨ This is also one of those things that mystifies us since in the time since COVID became a problem, masking up in a majority of public places has also meant we've only had one actual cold in five years. Also it keeps our face warm when we're walking in the cold! There's just so many good reasons to have and use one, and you can even get pretty ones! We've got a bunch of floral-pattern N95s, and they're part of our fashion now. I understand the resistance comes mostly from contrarianism, but... really, they're just a broadly good idea for you and the people around you.

COVID was the perfect opportunity for the US to start masking in the winter for cold and flu season, and it's sad the cultural shift didn't really happen.

but it's as you said, being careful myself has kept me and my loved ones from getting sick with even things like colds or flu.

also yeah accessorizing with masks is awesome?? even besides that, i know i'm not the only trans or NB person who enjoys having half my face covered at all times. way less maintenance required in order to get read correctly by others!
