it's not too bad, really! there's a good chunk of text but doing stuff tends to be straightforward, you just read the card and follow the instructions. the fact that the first half is coop makes it a nice teach as well, and then by the time the Haunt rolls around the new players have a handle on things. Individual Haunt scenarios can occasionally get a bit tricky, especially if it's secret info you can't ask for help for, but the rulebook tends to do a good job of laying stuff out. It makes for a surprisingly good "family" game with kids
