Making games sometimes

Hello cohosters!I started Indie Games of Cohost to serve as a small lighthouse in the swirling tides of posting on a new social platform. For both fans and devs alike, I hope I can help share great games you can find here on Cohost. So far, I've settled into a routine of sharing one post daily that I find somewhere in the games tags. It could be a dev log, a review, an announcement trailer, who knows what. I might start posting twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. If you're an indie game developer ... I'm looking for people to possibly interview for this page! Introduce yourself in the comments (or by sharing this post) and I'll take a look around at who's on here. Hello cohosters!

I started Indie Games of Cohost to serve as a small lighthouse in the swirling tides of posting on a new social platform.

If you're an indie game developer... I'm looking for people to possibly interview for this page! Introduce yourself in the comments (or by sharing this post) and I'll take a look around at who's on here. I can't promise anything yet, but I'll see if it's something I can do in my spare time to help share more games.

If you're an indie fan...got any favorite indies you've been playing recently?

Thanks for following my little corner of Cohost!

hello hello 🥰 i'm planning to set up a page for unseelie collective and make a little intro post, but it's not up just yet.

i'm also trying to do some lists sharing game devs on the platform but accidentally deleted one (need to remake it) and bit tired with a new job atm.

Hey there! I'm Bigg, and I'm one half of BP Games. We make pornographic visual novels! Our current project is Opportunity: A Sugar Baby Story, which is currently available in early access on both Steam and Itch (20% off right now too!)

"With two young children, a full-time job, two student loans, and rent due every month, it’s no wonder that millennial single mother Jacqueline is struggling! She’s exhausted, she’s stressed, she’s overworked, and worse: she hasn’t gotten laid in over two years! But things begin to change after she reconnects with an old friend, who makes her a surprising offer…

Opportunity: A Sugar Baby Story is a warm, lighthearted erotic visual novel exploring what it means to rebuild and reinvent yourself against a backdrop of late-stage capitalism. What do you do when you realize you haven’t been really happy for a long time, and what does it mean to be REALLY happy, anyways? This is the first of many chapters of our story, so hopefully you’ll find out!"

We've been making games together since 2016, and I'd love to talk more about what that experience has been like if you're interested!

Hi, I'm yumaikas.itch.io, and I'd consider myself more of a high effort gamedev hobbyist than an indie dev as such, since I'm not currently aiming for it to become my day job, but I like sharing what I know about Godot, which has been growing over time.

I am currently on a (somewhat in haitus due to life events) quest to use all of the sprites in the Kenney 1-bit pack, and participating in MVM 18. My MVM 17 entry got 11th place, which was cool, and Gum Runner got 3rd, and is probably the best thing I've been a part of.

I like to try to make games that play well on mobile when the genre allows for it, and had been exploring that space in the 1hgj some.

Hi there. I'm Alex. I've been in the game industry for a long time as QA, but I've spent a lot of my free time over the past six years making games in Unreal.

My day job is good, and pays well enough, but game design's my true passion and it was about six years ago when I realized the only way I'd ever get to do that is if I just made a game myself.

I'm working on my second game now, which I'd say is currently at about 25% design complete. I'm trying to get in to the habit of sharing progress more often. It's slow going because one can only give so much free time to a hobby - but I honestly can't imagine doing anything else.

I guess I'm hoping to foster some relationships and make some connects with other aspiring/growing/established developers of all sorts. No idea how to do that, but commenting here is probably a good start!

sup, i've been developing an advance wars clone for the past 2 years. no, not that one. a different one. it's been built from the ground up for competitive play and i'm hoping to make some kind of public release in the next year. i'm posting screenshots/progress at #project yawc

i also make puzzles. this comment is not a puzzle.

Heya, I'm currently working on an weird mix of precision platformer and open world action RPG called Kandria, coming out in January. I'm always happy to do interviews and answer any kind of question, from management to level design to engine dev.

Hello! We do game dev a fair bit, but we've never finished and published a game yet. Looking like this current project at #Sectorheart might possibly change that, though? Developing while disabled is tricky.
We strive to make games with both style and substance as well as games portraying queer characters and themes. If you name a game genre, it's pretty likely we've thought about at least one take on it we'd like to make.

Hi! I'm Binary, I publish tabletop games through Binary Star Games. (Not sure if that's in your purview or if you're mostly looking for video games, but nothing beats a failure but a try.) I'm currently working on APOCALYPSE FRAME (in layout, v1.0 coming soon!) and Total//Effect (an engine/SRD/game design toolbox which isn't yet public but I've written a few devlogs about, will probably have another out soon) among other things.

i'm charlene! i'm currently working on three projects; The Joylancer: Legendary Motor Knight, Bullet Sorceress, and Mechanical Star Astra. i am the founder, lead artist, lead designer, game director, and level designer for all games developed at my two-person studio @DNGRHRT (no posts on cohost yet...). we focus primarily on stylish action games.

i have a ton of history as a professional animator in the industry (which takes up most of my time), used to give talks at IndieCades, and i love talking about the artistic process, my history developing a game for a very long time (and the trials/tribulations that come with it/caused it), and creation in general. i'd definitely be interested in chatting if you were. :)

Hello! I'm Christian, I'm a game designer and developer for Rose City Games, a local indie studio in Portland, OR (https://www.rosecitygames.com/) that released Floppy Knights this year! I also co-founded the studio Spooky Buns Games with two of my best friends and released a game called Plunge, which we managed to get onto the Nintendo Switch by asking politely. https://www.plungegame.com/

Currently I'm working on a lot of professional things that I can't talk about and one personal project that I am extremely talking about where I try to make a game in 100 days by working 1 hour per day, which is being entirely collected here on cohost at https://cohost.org/rc/tagged/100days !

This is a cool idea, good luck!

Heyo! My name is Jonah, I'm a solo developer and game jam frequenter. I am doing a lot of different things lately, but recently I've organized the click-or-treat 2022 bundle on Itch, and I've kicked off a new podcast called Notes on Games. Hit me up any time!

hey!!!!!!!! i dont use cohost to post about my games but im chloe & make games as OWCH. mostly i prototype new genres/mechanics, wrap them in cute lofi pixelart, and share the results on twitter (rip) but when the stars align i sometimes manage to actually finish a game and people seem to like them??? also im the programming half of @DNGRHRT w @charlenemaximum and were working on a bunch of extremely cool long-term projects! i have no idea what im doing tbh but ive been doing it for a really long time & always happy to chat about it :)

my games are here 👉 owch.itch.io

Hello!! I'm a developer who has been working with a small group over the past three years in our spare time to make a 3D collectathon platformer called Slime 64!

We've been making a ton of great progress lately. I've done tons of research on 3D game cameras, plus we employ lots of tricks to evoke that 64-bit style.

Hi, I have been making games and stuff for the Sharp MZ series of computers (one of them, Minesnake, was reviewed in Retro Gamer magazine and got 82%, which is still one of the coolest things that has happened to me), and now I'm trying to make PC games as well.

nyallo! i'm a solo indie dev who hasn't actually finished a single project in the decade i've been active (so i guess i'm just a really persistent hobbyist), but i ultimately wanna make a newtonian space combat game of some description

as for indie games i like... sunshine heavy industries, astroneer, and carrier command 2 are my favourites right now! i'm not really sure where to draw the line between indie and well established developers, so honourable mentions to space engineers and deep rock galactic 💛

I'm pretty bad at interviews, but I've been making PROUDHEART solo for a few years. I'm making a Zelda-like game because Nintendo doesn't make them anymore, so I have nothing to play.

Favorite indie I've played recently though is CrossCode. Unsurprisingly, despite not being a Zelda-like... it has dungeons. So that's why I like it of course.

Recently i was reminded that Kingsway exists and once again it took over my free time.

It's good, you should check it out if you like old breed of RPGs, have a soft spot for last century GUI, and would like to check out a game that made closing pop-ups as a mechanic and succeeded!

Thank you for this! For what it's worth...HI, I'm the Founder & Creative Director for my Indie Start-up called "November Reign": https://novreign.art

I have 1 released title w/4 other small projects in the works. My Game Dev goals are to share a piece of my own personal, lived experience while creating fun, thought-provoking, connective & powerful games!

I hope we'll have the opportunity to connect w/one another. Thanks again for this necessary post!

Hi! I'm Sol, a 3D environment artist by trade but an indie dev by passion. Aside from my freelance work, I've done art for some indie games (Such as Shutter Stroll and Cover Me In Leaves), and last year I released GUACUCO (https://mnsoleart.itch.io/guacuco), an interactive diorama about letting go and moving on. I also manage (along with others!) @galaxydevzone and La Madriguera LGBT+, both online communities for gender-marginalized devs, and queer devs in the spanish-speaking dev industry.

Thank you for doing this, I see you've had a lot of responses already! If I could recommend a couple more people to consider for interviews, @ivanpapiol also manages La Madriguera with me and does incredible art and games, and @rha is a super talented all-around artist making really neat indie games on their free time.

Hi, I'm Daniel. I'm the lead over at Forward Instinct. We made Midnight Ultra (https://store.steampowered.com/app/731590/Midnight_Ultra/), and this year we've:

-Put Keepsake County (https://forwardinstinct.itch.io/keepsake-county), our next major title, into Alpha over on itch.io. It's a Midwestern stealth game about burgling junk from rural farmhouses. We put out updates for it every couple weeks or so. -Put out Brain Plastic Signals: Tech Demo (https://forwardinstinct.itch.io/bps-tech) - a visually bizarre tech demo for an upcoming game about manipulating your brain chemistry. -Released Villain Vegan (https://forwardinstinct.itch.io/villain-vegan), a month-long slowjam, on Halloween - a small 2 hour game about delivering food to weirdos in a spooky fall town -Released Midnight Taco (https://forwardinstinct.itch.io/midnight-taco), a 7-day FPS Jam game, where you control two gunslingers at once, fighting your way through a weird mountaintop labyrinth.

I also write/edit The Virtual Haus (http://thevirtual.haus/), a subcultural zine that's focused on glitch art, video synthesis, horror films, vaporwave music, and much more. Most recently, we interviewed Jess Harvey of Arbitrary Metric, and Airdorf, creator of the FAITH series.

Hiya!! I'm Min, a solo-indie-dev-and-artist. I'm super passionate about narrative driven games and interactive stories, and I recently finished one of my longer term projects, 'Our Long Walk Home', a surreal horror RPG :) https://minkonn.itch.io/our-long-walk-home (I also have finished a few other projects, including some other RPGs and visual novels, which you can find on my itch.io page if you're interested!)

hi! looks like you've got a ton of responses already, but I figured I'd pitch in as well :) I'm torcado, I've been making games for over 12 years, and have been very much in on the indie game scene/community. My noteworthy games can be found on my itch: https://torcado.itch.io/ most of which are game jam entries. My more well-known games would be Heck Deck and Ghost Bird, and also my contributions to projects such as http://10min.games (with this website also being made by me).

I'd love to do an interview, or help out in any other way :)

Hello there! I'm a software engineer with Black Totem Games working on a game called Salt of Man! We showed our game at Oak City Indie Games, a Raleigh NC event celebrating and showcasing local indie talent and we'd love to share more :D

Hello! I'm brand new to cohost, but had this page recommended to me. I'm an indie solo dev gearing up to release a new game called The Salt Keep on Friday.

It's a novel-length text adventure (think interactive fiction with CYOA and RPG mechanics) set in a world of medieval fantasy and horror. It’s got the familiar trappings of sword and sorcery, a pervasive sense of creeping industrial dread, and a sad sack salesman having a pretty rough time.

Demo right here: https://smallgraygames.itch.io/the-salt-keep

Feel free to DM me (same username on Twitter, Tumblr, etc), I'd love to talk!

hi, i'm C.T. Matthews! i spent around 12 years working as a programmer in the games industry, but nowadays i make indie action games about ducks. my first game chessplosion is a top-down action game about dropping chess piece bombs (featuring online play with rollback netcode!), and i announced my second game ducky's delivery service last week.

i'm also a competitive fighting game player (i won evo a couple of years ago!) so i'm sure i'll eventually make a fighting game at some point.

the best way to contact me is via email: press at ctmatthews.com

Hello! I'm TheHelplessCelt, I am a Table Top game designer. Here's some of the stuff I make:

Starfall: A Sci-fi themed TTRPG that is steadily progressing towards release.

Unnamed TCG: I'm making a Sci-fi Trading Card Game, it will likely be set in the same universe as Starfall and is inspired by Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh.

Triumph of Desolation: A mythology themed table top wargame where gods and their followers fight eachother for control over a shattered world.

If you are interested about any of these then just ask. Triumph of Desolation is the most finished with Starfall close behind.

I am reachable on Discord at: TheHelplessCelt#3804

Or via email at: thehelplesscelt@gmail.com

Yo! I'm Sam, an independent game developer under the alias of ompuco.

I primarily specialize in esoteric tech art work & shaders/VFX, and have worked on a number of notable titles including Manifold Garden & Yo! Noid 2 doing all sorts of tasks both esoteric & not, but I also have a number of independent projects released on my own, most recent being a short & moody narrative title Truss.

Would love to chat about what I do some time! Best way to reach me is ompuco at gmail dot com.

Yo, I'm Christian, and I am a narrative designer that makes small indie games, usually in some sort of Interactive Fiction subgenre, usually in Twine, but I am branching into this new engine called Narrat made by @liananana. You can find my games on my Itch page here. I also like to document the Internet's 5 websites' collapse and the current climate crisis cause Hurricane Katrina scarred me for life. You will find that my obsession with systems collapse is something of a through-line in my work.

hi! been here for a bit and have loved what I've seen of the page since it's been started!

Name's Jeff / Chi, and I'm a indie game producer working on stuff like the rhythm-adventure game UNBEATABLE (unbeatablegame.com) as well as my own stuff, which you can check out at (skyhour.works). been quiet with everything I've been doing (and it's been a tough year), but once we're out on the other side of everything, y'all are gonna love what I've been helping people cook!

hi, i'm vec! i mostly use cohost for art, but i've been a game developer for years and have several solo developed projects. my biggest project is DracoFighter which i spent about 3 years on, and is a traditional fighting game aimed at beginners! it's been released on multiple sites including Steam, and i'm currently working on the sequel.
https://www.vecderg.com/dracofighter

Greetings! I'm Lilliana Kendra, a sort of Jill of all Trades of indie game dev. A listof things I've done and do:

-I make game trailers! Helping great devs reach people is an awesome thing I love doing.
-I was the script editor on the small game Irrational.
-I'm a guest composer on the upcoming Izrand Allure.
-I've made a small RM demo and I'm currently planning out a new, somewhat larger project.
-And I'm involved in another couple projects that I can't quite talk about yet.

I'm always down to make trailers or consult with other devs for things! Find all my work through my Linktree: https://linktr.ee/lillianakendra

hello!

I'm currently working as a designer on Defender's Quest 2, a tower defense/RPG hybrid. Previously, I was also a programmer on fighting game Them's Fightin' Herds, amongst other things.

In my spare time I have a number of personal projects, the largest and most public of which is Addlemoth, a turn-based puzzle game inspired by DROD. You can play the demo for free in your browser! I swear my art's improved since!

Glad to see so many other devs here, really.

We are Balloon Co. [gaming division] and we do not do interviews because there is a chance that providing information about our games or any thought process that contributed to making our games could SPOIL the specawesomgreatastic experience of playing our games! We are commenting here because we make video games, we are on cohost, and Balloon Co. [marketing division] says it is a form of an action defined as "networking" which they learned is a thing divisions of a business need to do but won't say WHY!

Hey, thanks for showcasing so many indie games and devs! I'm Runa, writer and production manager and sometimes composer for a few indie games both released and in development. My last game, 77 Oleander, is a visual novel with a Difficulty Spike and I'm currently on a team a school life sim inspired by gundam, gunbuster, and tokimeki memorial☺️

Hi! I make character & narrative focused games inspired by the anti-war movement of the 1960's. You can find my itch here: https://tristan-de-larkadien.itch.io

Most of my games are about cute boys, male-male relationships and the art of Getting Along. Operation Birthday Cake is about trying to make a cake for your best friend during WWI, while Schulz & Wachtmeister is a tale of trying not to kill (and maybe kiss) the guy you're stuck with after everyone else died.

heyyo, I'm an indie dev programmer making games with my brother Sam (not on cohost), our most recent project was Gun Trails, a bullet hell shmup for playdate

game link: https://play.date/games/gun-trails/
trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GscxQLpRlA

we're now working on a few new things across PC & Playdate

thanks for running this page, I've already found many cool things to play from it! would be happy to chat if you're ever still looking for devs to talk with :)

Hihi, I'm kalechips, visual novel dev and new sincerity cowboy. I make some retro anime inspired stuff here: https://kale-chips.itch.io/ Big on trains, night on the galactic railroad, tezuka manga, and talking cats.
Oh, indie games that have been on my mind... It just came out in english, but Enjoy the Restaurant has been on my mind. Here's the original jp link but you can find it on steam as well: https://oissisui.itch.io/moonpalace
Also shoutout to robobarbie and their team for making really creative narrative works. I really liked this one about riding a carriage to your death: https://robobarbie.itch.io/lycorislastwords

hello Mr. Indie Games "Kyle" of Cohost! i quietly make a website that is also a free game at https://corru.observer, with periodic content updates and expansions throughout the year! there's one set to come out this month, too!

P.S. you should check out Inkbound if you haven't already... this game is so sick and they removed all the in-game monetization they set up at launch out of good will for the fanbase, it was really cool to see
