Hello, it is true, this game is being made! I am writing so many tunes, i hope you like banjo and accordion and fiddle and clarinet and stuff.
It makes me really happy to see so many people excited about this announcement 💜
I can't say anything about the game, but I am really excited to do some deep dives on here, eventually. For now, I'll just say that the main thing I hope to do with the music is to infuse it with my lifelong love of traditional folk music.
I am from rural Arkansas, and as a kid I was obsessed with the OST for O Brother, Where Art Thou?, I have always been around this music, grew up hearing my grandpa (a retired lumber mill union member with an elementary school education) yodel along to songs he played on a tape deck.
Fast forward a number of years and I've somehow (a mix of stubbornly refusing to give up making music and a scary amount of luck) managed to become a self-taught composer who's worked on indie games for nearly a decade now (wild, whoa). Before that I did theatre and played live music (singer/songwriter stuff) at small DIY spaces in my homestate. For a long time I focused on learning to produce digital music because that was what most of the games I worked on needed in terms of setting/tone, but I always hoped I could work on something that incorporates live instruments and folk techniques and has a lot of narrative to build from.
So, needless to say, Revenant Hill is a dream project for me. Back in 2021 when Scott reached out to see if I had any interest in working alongside The Glory Society I apparently had a look of immense shock on my face, because my partner turned to me and was like, "you ok? Is something wrong?" and I remember just babbling incoherently and handing them my phone.
I've worked on the game off and on for the past year—even started learning accordion so the songs I wrote for it would feel intuitive to play—I really hope that when it's all said and done, people will feel the love I'm pouring into the places and people of Revenant Hill. I can't wait for y'all to spend time there. It's been fantastic working with TGS, and I love how connected I feel to the story we're telling together. Feels pretty magical, imo.
And now a fun fact for anyone who manages to get to the end of this meandering post:
The fiddle solo at the end of the trailer is part of a recurring theme you'll hear in the game!

that trailer track is just PERFECT.
