Just some bug!!!!

  • she/her

Hi i'm Junebug, the bug from online. I'm very cool and everyone who has ever met me loves me.

the funniest part of the goncharov meme is that every part of it is believable. Scorsese directing "the greatest mafia film ever made", even if you don't know that Domenico Procacci is a real italian film producer he sounds like a real guy, naples is a real place doing a famous mafia film there is reasonable...

and then you hit that the film is by, quote "Matteo JWHJ0715" and no matter how many cool ideas you have for these characters or amazing art or whatever you're forced to grapple with this randgen name motherfucker. why is he here, what the fuck. it's so funny

edit: apparently it makes sense because every part of it except for the name GONCHAROV and JWHJ0715 is actually describing a real movie, Gomorrah, that scorsese lent his name to for promotional reasons!

but someone fucked up and now we got GONCHAROV what a gift

in reply to @JuniperTheory's post:

Someone on tumblr did a dive on it, and worked out a plausible chain of events:

Someone is making boots and trying to pass them off as being more of a prestige brand, by putting a label on in English that has all the airs of being something expensive and meaningful.

Except they don't read/write English, maybe, beyond being able to distinguish "yup, those are English characters/words". (This is hardly an uncommon occurrance! See also: the knock-off Mauser pistols in China, and whatnot!)

And so, they feed cut up bits of movie poster text into an OCR program to feed it to an embroidery machine. The OCR program is set up to be able to read both English and Russian, and it does its best with what it's been given. And it does a fairly reasonable job, except for... y'know... the bits it didn't.

And thus, we get: Goncharov.
