so like, we know the modern vampire survivors flood is ruining the ability to find actual bullet hell/shmup games on steam because they all get tagged that even though they Aren't That
has anyone done a real mashup of the two genres? like, there's the touhou roguelike, but has anyone really embraced the endless v survivors design but with actual shmup thoughtfullness in it's design? i wonder
bullet hell fans are now experiencing the apocalypse that roguelike guys survived in the wake of rogue legacy, spelunky and binding of isaac. All you can do now is pray for steam to add a “traditional shmup” tag
my hot take is that spelunky is the one modern roguelike to embrace the spirit of classic roguelikes
there's a fair few but they aren't well known. Unexplored is my favorite of this type
There's a similar situation with the immersive sim tag yeah, it's completely flooded with power wash simulator, euro truck simulator type stuff
