i've often seen this book razzed as one of the Bad How To Draw Manga Books (and unfortunately the author has been the target of some Shitty Online Behavior about it, from what i've heard) but you know what. as a connoisseur of awful american "how to draw manga" books. this is absolutely not one of those. it's Good Actually!!!! it's stylistically consistent, it's approachable, it's made with a true adoration for anime/manga, and i know so many fantastic artists who got it at a book fair when they were kids and built part of their foundation on it. on the back cover it says Katy Coope "hopes to inspire others to pick up a pen or pencil and create something new, and help people realise that you don't have to be an artistic genius to be creative." and you know what. she did it. as a teenager!! nothing but respect for MY president tbh. im writing her name on my 2024 ballot
