I read Ito's Sensor recently and I didn't really vibe with it as much as I have with his other work, but I think the real detriment was it being described as 'Lovecraftian' and I had expected something similar to The Colour out of Space and that's just not what it was.
And given how coupled conspiracy theorists are with the Alt-Right these days as soon as the Akashic records were mentioned I kinda checked the fuck out. I did really like the bugs though and wished there were more weird things like that and less.. i dunno real world conspiracy theories. The whole thing felt like a lot of underutilized ideas and all in all I just wanted more gross gore
