I like playing games with high amounts of replayability/customizability (meaning roguelikes, mostly, but also rhythm games), and sometimes also automation sims since I like programming so much that I do that professionally.

  • women: Hey what if we could use computer code in more than one way
  • men: what
  • women: like if we could use programs we already wrote to make more complex programs
  • men: sounds lazy. just do what I tell you and implement this flowchart
  • women: we call it "software engineering"
  • men: cute but you're not engineers
  • women: you can even use it to make programs that run on more than one computer!
  • men: why would you want to use more than one computer. Our workplace has one computer. Are you about to work for our competitors
  • women: we could write programs in a form that sounds like English, like "ADD 1 TO X"
  • men: hahaha you're confused, computers don't speak English
  • Grace Hopper: well I did it anyway. Now we're more efficient at making weapons
  • men: OH HEY you have our attention
  • Grace Hopper: so this is called a "programming language"
  • men: hey look at this cool idea we invented!
