it feels weird to see a decade i experienced some of being like... muddied up i guess? by people that didn't experience it.
sorry i just saw someone post a very cool 3D model of a giant square old-school boombox and they said it was "90s". 90s boomboxes looked fucking weird
This is also a pet-peeve of mine, so here are some of the portable stereos my family owned in the 90s, or equivalents there-of.
The first one I'm 90% sure is the stereo my mom bought in 1991. I would make mix tapes of Weird Al songs with it, because I was a very cool child.
The second one is roughly the same model my older brother got for first communion in 1993. It was eventually given to me when he bought a 5 disc changer when he turned 14. The model he had had a digital read-out that maxed out at 19, as a very strange cost-cutting measure. For whatever reason, it had a very difficult time reading CD-Rs.
The third one was roughly the same design of the boombox my little sister bought when she was 9 or 10, towards the end of the 90s. We used it for at least 15 years pretty heavily. As far as I know it still works. I think it may have taken 4-6 AAs instead of a bunch of D-cells like the other ones did.
